I'm a woman of God. I'm a wife. I'm a daughter. I'm a sister. I'm a teacher. I'm living by God's grace to bring him glory, by him and through him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17

Fathers to Daughters
My last day babysitting I was passing the time and came across one of those adorable little books...the kind that can fit in your back pocket or purse. It caught my attention because the front cover said, "Fathers to daughters" which is a topic that grips me in every sense.
Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I read it straight through which only took about 10 minutes because each page only has a sentence or two on it. The book is chalked full of advice for dads on how to raise their daughters through the different stages of life. I believe the author is a christian just based on his advice.
Page after page, I was shocked to see that my dad literally fit all of the pages.....he had done all that this man had said to do! It was mouth dropping and humbling. I found one page which my dad had failed on and it read:
"Realize that every boy that comes to your door is not a creep. He just might be her way to pass history or algebra."
HAHA----yeah right. My dad treated every date and boyfriend like he was a creep--he trusted no one with me. He was always respectful but the guys I dated consistently commented on how cold my dad was to them or how he didn't like them. I guess it worked Dad!
By the end of the book, which the final page read, "Let her go," I was a weeping mess. I decided that if my dad had really done everything right that a professional had advised-he deserved to know it. I can see now as an adult how exhausted he must have been to put in that much time with us. On that note, I am buying the book and mailing my dad a page every week with an explanation behind the quote of how I know he was successful. He needs the encouragement right now at knowing that his daughter is proud of him and I need the therapy of doing it!
I'll share some of the good ones along the way....until then....call me cheesy all you want, but you know everyone loves a little cheese on everything! ;)
