Valkyrie

Boy have things changed in my life...in reference to movie and TV selection and preferences.

John has introduced me to a whole new world when it comes to TV entertainment. This weekend we rented Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise, set during the Hitler era. IT WAS FANTASTIC! I loved that it was a true story and it was incredibly thought provoking.

The basic story is a group of Germans who put a plan into place to try and overthrow Hitler in order to stop his madness. They put their lives on the line for a small chance that their big plan would actually work-it failed. All of the men were executed in the last scene of the movie and it was heartbreaking.

John and I talked afterward about the things we would be willing to put our lives out there for. Christ seemed to be the only answer that we were confident of. These men tried to stop Hitler because it was the right thing to do.....religion wasn't really the primary reason. I selfishly told John I wouldn't want him to do what Cruise did in the movie---leave me and die for other people. He would though-and that's pretty hot :)

It's a great rental! Clean movie---challenging--true--so sad.
