Lights Contest

I've been a bit of a scrooge this season.....I have this complex that unless I'm in MI and with my family-it's not Christmas time. I finally broke it to myself the other day that Christmas will come and go whether I'm in Michigan or not. HA!

I made the decision that we would not put a tree up in the house this year. I also have a complex that I can't put up Christmas decor until we're married. I don't know why-it's really pretty weird-it just doesn't feel right.

Instead of putting up Christmas decor-I have decided to occasionally play Christmas music while I cook. I feel like making nachos to holiday carols is quite festive.

Once we get to Michigan it's on. The snow, my moms DVD of a fireplace (that actually crackles), Hungry Howie's Pizza on Christmas Eve (post church service of course), and.....(drum roll)....the Lights Contest.

John and I drive around every year (of course we have snacks and drinks in the car and we listen to Christmas music), to all types of neighborhoods, and we critique their outdoor lighting. There are 3 categories that we rate for the contest.
1. Organization
2. Creativity
3. Appropriate Coverage

We have decided to grant the winner with a certificate this year, courtesy of J and K Lighting Association. Yes, that's right, we will hand deliver a certificate to some random house in Michigan for their awesome outdoor lighting abilities.

We're all about changing lives---one house at a time :)

(this house...creativity= 6 (covering the whole house is not creative) coverage=8 (not appropriate....save some electricity for the rest of us) organization= 10 (sympathy points)
