Kid's say the darndest things....

John's grandpa had a heart attack and we decided to head to Michigan early in case the worst happened. Better to live preparing than regretting :)

I decided to tell my kids that I wouldn't be in school for Monday and Tuesday and told them why. Their faces were immediately in shock (I think mainly because kids don't think teachers are people...they eat groceries, we have friends, lives, etc.) so I recovered quickly with a redirecting statement, "well, his grandpa was in the army and fought in WWII. Isn't that cool?"

One of my bright eyed beauties eyes got large and he blurted out for all the world to hear, "What side did he fight on?"

I guess ya never can assume too much.....I had assumed it was obvious that his grandpa fought for our country. He on the other hand was led to believe that it was England...why, I have no idea and didn't want to ask!
