For the simple matter of my sanity and well being, today was a "silent reading day" in class. This literally means what is says...silent. read. today.
So, as I was cleaning up my desk, entering grades, and responding to parents e-mails, one of my students walks up to me and says, "Mrs. Crowley, what does this word mean?"
I look up to see which word she is pointing to and to my suprise she is reading her bible. Hmmmmm.....so cool and so surprising at the same time. I get a huge smile on my face and finally look to the page to see the word she cannot understand.
"circumsized"
Great.
My response: "I'm not sure what that word means. Just skip it and keep reading."
Words like this are not in my 6th grade vocabulary. I'll leave that up to Mom.
