Progress in foster care feels to be consistently changing. It's a challenge to be patient because some of the kids cannot exit treatment facilities until they are well enough to leave.
Michael has had a few setbacks in treatment and with that---the timeline has been pushed out. We will be meeting this week to determine if we will continue this path with Michael or with a child that we would get much sooner.
Our hearts are so torn----we are desperately wanting to get started with having an actual child in our home. John and I started the process last January--and here it's October and we are still waiting. On the other hand, we don't want to completely abandon Michael as we have spent time with him over the past few months.
There is just no easy answer......and the process is far from simple.
